JIVE! JIVE! JIVE!

JIVE! JIVE! JIVE! A fashion video directed by Bon Duke influenced by teddy boy punk look which is a new approach hitting the industry for StyleCaster. Most of the tattoos were free hand with added flares by Temptu pro transfers. I was influenced by a lot of NYC tattoo art from the early 80's and the London teddy boy scene.

The video was shot at Don Hills, NYC - a famous punk club with all its grit and vintage style. The boys were phenomenal in portraying the look and feel of rebellious kids looking for trouble.

VIBRAM

Check out my latest work in some of the most prestigious Health/Sports magazines this and next month! I had a great time shooting in Boston with photographer Gary Land and the entire staff.

The ad campaign is for Vibram Five Finger Shoes 'You Are the Technology'. All the lettering was done by hand with custom made stencils - a challenge I loved to take on and happy to see out in print for all to see.

Canada, Eh!

It's been a fun filled year as the Temptu Sephora Living Museum events come to an end in Vancouver, BC.

I had the privilege of traveling with Temptu since our first premier at Fashion's Night Out in 2009. It has been a wonderful experience of airbrush makeup and temporary tattoos with many old and new friends made along the way.

To celebrate the occasion I decided to spend an adventurous day in the city of Vancouver trying new foods, shopping and site seeing. I wanted to commence the visit and love for Vancouver with a permanent souvenir of a true Canadian tattoo.

After doing some research and asking for the best tattoo shop in Vancouver, I found Sacred Heart Tattoo on Nelson Street. Nick Wasko graciously fit me into his schedule at the last minute and with the help of his co-worker Chris Hold , came up with the perfect Canadian tattoo!

I had a great time swapping stories with Nick and Chris and will get to see them again soon. Special thanks to Nick for making me an honorary Canadian with such a gorgeous tattoo! Can't wait to make an appointment with Chris next!! Check out these two awesome artists and visit them if you are ever in the Vancouver area!

Stay tuned for the 2011 tour of the Temptu Sephora Living Museum Events!

Body Art At The Victoria Secret Fashion Show

When I was younger, I remember watching the Victoria Secret Fashion Show. I was mesmerized by the look of the models and fashion hoping one day I would be able to experience it in person.

That day arrived when the skinprinter/makeup artist William Lemon II asked me to assist him with an amazing tribal body art show using TEMPTU's airbrush makeup. We worked on model Emanuela de Paulo and an entourage of male dancers during the 2010 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show.

This was an amazing show and I was able to live out one my dreams! Not only did I get to be a part of the show - I finally was able to see the show just a few rows away from the catwalk!

Watch the show on November 30th on CBS!!!

Bonded by Shoes

Late night? Nothing to do? Why not tattoo a good friend and have some great laughs!

My close friend and tattoo sister Casey Hahn hung out with me at the tattoo shop last night. After having a good meal she let me give her some new ink. Casey wanted a vintage image of something we are both very passionate about....Shoes! The tattoo is not done but it will be duplicated on me as well. Tattoo sisters bonded by the love of shoes!

T-Shirt Time!!!

It's so great to have spontaneous creative moments with amazing artists that inspire you. This was a fun t-shirt project that Edwin, Tom and I all did today on our windy rooftop.

First we took photographs of each other and then enlarged with xerox copies. The next step was to create a self portrait stencil. After having our images ready, we began experimenting with spray paint on our shirts. I was the first to go and made some good and bad discoveries about the process.

After learning a lot and having a ton of fun spray painting in a tornado, we came out with some really fun images and new clothes to wear!

The Tattooed Wedding Gift

A very happy newly wed couple came into the shop for a tattoo. The young woman requested a fully opened carnation to represent her grandmother with a tiny lady bug to symbolize her daughter. The challenge was she wanted both the carnation and lady bug to be red. We decided on a unique white carnation with red tips. Problem solved... the lady bug would sit on the white part of the petal.

In the midst of the tattoo and getting to know the couple, I found out how newly wed they were! They had just gotten married the day before and were on their honeymoon in NYC. The tattoo was a wedding gift for the new bride from her now husband. I was so happy to be able to give such a romantic tattoo for someone who just had their special day!

Makeup Artists Love Their Tattoos

It often occurs that a tattoo is not designed well. Surely with time it can become unrecognizable - leading to a 'touch up' or cover it completely with an entirely new design.

My very good friend Anne had gotten a tattoo many years of a small flower but we joked many times that it looked like a fly. We decided to cover the tattoo completely and to incorporate her traditional Korean name as well as. The addition of the branches and graphic silhouette of a bird was tattooed in a separate session.

Unfortunately, I lost my computer with the photos of the original tattoo but here is the final outcome.

I am happy with the outcome as it made one of my Makeup Artist friends content with what she always wanted tattooed on her.

Banksy tattoo

A good friend that I grew up with has recently come to me a few times to do his tattoos along with his very lovely wife. While I was working on his wife giving her a new butterfly, my friend was obviously itching to get a new one as well. Not wanting him to rush into the ink, I had him go home to do some research for his new tattoo.

The tattoo he finally decided to get is based off the art of Banksy. Banksy is a British graffiti artist known for his political street art and distinct stenciling images who's identity has yet to be confirmed.

The image he chose was the silouette of a young girl with a heart balloon floating above her. Being a big Banksy fan myself, I was thrilled to do the tattoo! After a little deliberation on size and location, he finally decided to put the tattoo his bicep.

He was very happy with the final outcome and said that he take a break from tattoos for a little while, but that's what he said last month.....I think he will back sooner than he thinks!
